Bernard Weiner describes his most underappreciated work: a paper on achievement motivation which he considers a case of publish and perish. Published in Cognition and Emotion, Weiner's research tackled personal attributions following success and failure and their effects on subsequent motivation; judgments and reactions following attributions for the failure of others; blame vs. withholding blame for failure; reactions to the stigmatized, help-giving, aggression, and other instances of social motivation where concepts such as fault, responsibility, and intention were applicable.

Keywords:   Bernard Weiner, achievement motivation, personal attributions, Cognition and Emotion, success and failure, blame, help-giving, aggression, social motivation, publish and perish
