William McCulloch

Oxford University Press

This chapter presents excerpts from The Glasgow Weekly History: Or, An Account of the Most Remarkable Particulars Relating to the Progress of the Gospel, a letter written by the Scottish minister William McCulloch on July 14, 1742. Published in The Glasgow-Weekly History, the letter offered a firsthand account of an unusual awakening taking place in Scotland at the time. When McCulloch became the minister of Cambuslang in 1731, his parish became the site of Scotland's largest revival. His sermons on regeneration, combined with George Whitefield's 1741 summer preaching tour in Scotland, generated an extraordinary religious awakening at Cambuslang.
